Adams MSPV43 Soloist Series 4.3 Octave Padouk MarimbaThe Soloist series of marimbas are effective solutions for budget conscience musicians and schools who are looking for high quality sound but desire a low cost. Made with Padouk wood bars that are graduated and slightly narrower, this marimba offers the same precise tuning and voicing as the Artist marimba. This quality provides for balanced sound throughout the entire range of the instrument. Being tuned to the sixth overtone allows complete control over all aspects of the marimba's sound. As far as construction goes, the frame is the patented voyager system which permits effortless adjustment to a wide range of playing heights, and the resonators are welded, not riveted, to offer the utmost strength and safety from mechanical noise. Mallets and a cover are included.

The High School I work for just bought this instrument a little over a year ago. This is the second Marimba the school has, the other being a VERY old Yamaha with synthetic bars. When we got the new Adams out of the box and set up it just didn't compare to the ridiculously old Yamaha. And I mean that in a negative way. The Bars are made of very porous and airy would, which means they are both delicate and they dont resonate. They have a very clanky, sharp tambour, with pretty much no real tone. Along with that, the instrument came with THREE goofy/broken bars and TWO poorly tuned resonators. A month ago we a student was playing the marimba (during a song) and a Bar just snapped in half. He wasn't even banging them hard. We contacted Adams to try and get the broken stuff replaced, but they're ridiculously difficult to try and contact, and when we finally managed to contact them (a little over two months ago) they said they couldn't really do anything about it... In all, the instrument is terrible. Especially if you wish to do some "Soloist" pieces. Maybe it's good for a Middle school
