The Adams Professional series pedal mechanism is a balanced action system, designed to balance the head tension against the spring mechanism located in the base of the timpani. The spring mechanism is easily adjusted using an easily accessible tension knob located on the base of the timpani. The result is a pedal with the smoothest action available. The entire tension mechanism is located outside the bowl, allowing maximum unobstructed tone quality. Adams has taken the balanced action design to the next level, eliminating a number of the original design flaws that are so common with systems designed by other manufactures. All Professional series Timpani provide two wheels at the rear, each custom designed with a braking mechanism that prevents the wheel from not only turning but also from rotating.
