I have used this valve oil many times and have an issue with it that i have not been able to get rid of. I play the Euphonium about 3 to 4 hours a day, and of course valve oil is needed. So I apply the Al Cass valve oil and think the job is done. but within a matter of a minutes my valves continue to stick. This has occurred on my King Marching Euphonium more than my concert horns. so might just be the King. I have also had trouble using the oil on my slide for my Trombone it seems that you need a lot of oil for a short time of slickness on the slick. Overall it is good valve oil for the broke musician. It gets the job done but only for a short amount of time.

Works well, doesn't stink, 4 decades.

  • Low Odor

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

I have been using Al Cass FAST for around 40 years. I have a Blessing Artist with valve and slide sections (interchangeable on one bell), and I never did get convinced by the cold-cream folks that their procedure was better or less work on the slide. I use FAST for both slide and valve lubrication.

Unlike some slide or valve oils, this stuff has almost no odor, which is a good thing; some others I had tried, or used when I ran out and borrowed a bit, stink.

I get perfectly good performance from a small amount applied to clean valves or slide at the start of a session - no need for large amounts, no need to reapply in a session. I think some of the other reviewers might need to clean their horns, based on the problems they describe, but in any case, on my horn it works quite well and I'm not looking for anything "better" as I find "better" hard to imagine.

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

... since 1982. It has worked great in all my valved horns, regardless of valve wear. It's a bit thin for use in a trombone slide, but still does an acceptable job there. Suitable for flutes, too.

Fast, but only for a while

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

I switched to this valve oil a while ago, because I ran out if my old type. I tried it out, but it was only good in the beginning. As I used it more often, I started to notice slow valve action and sticking valves, if I held down the key for long tones. It was because of the residue from the valve oil, since then I use blue juice instead.

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

Not among the "exotic" line of oils, but Al Cass has been around forever as a dependable option, and it does a really good job of keeping valves smooth and clean.

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

i use al cass fast valve, slide and key oil in all of my trumpets and cornets because it has the best balance of characteristics for speed and longevity. if a valve oil is extremely fast it usaully requires frequent use and if it lasts a long time it usually produces slower valve action. al cass valve oil also is also a good value.

Bottle cap breaks - oil works

        By

Comments about Al Cass Fast Valve, Slide and Key Oil:

I also had a problem with a broken cap. It broke from normal use ( never dropped). I rigged a temporary cap but it leaks if tipped so I can't put the bottle in my case. The oil works fine but the bottlecap is an unnecessary nuisance.
