Product Description
Alexander Reeds
Alexander "DC" was designed with the Big Band and Blue Note eras in mind. "DC" has a profile with more wood on the tip, heart, and sides than the regular Superial model.
Product Overview and Specifications
Superial "D.C." Reeds

Tonal Concept of the Past
"DC" has a slightly harder tip and more wood in the heart and sides than Superial and this produces characteristics of a darker, more powerful, more solid tone core, but an enhanced feeling of aliveness, a singing but deep resonance. Made from the finest of wild grown Var cane, each and every reed table is checked under light for flatness and hand adjusted if necessary.

Great Sounding Reed

This reed is probably the best I have ever played. It is responsive in all registers and really growls on the low notes. I play a lot of big band, swing and church music and I can make it sing sweetly on Amazing Grace and growl like a Harley-Davidson on Mustang Sally. However, it seems to warp pretty easily therefore I go through a lot of them. All in all it is a great reed if you take care of it properly.

I ordered a box of 2.5s for jazz band, in which I play my Selmer Series II with an Otto Link 8*. After ordering and playing on these reeds for a few weeks now, I can't think of a better reed that I've ever played on. For starters, the projection and intonation are completely flawless. Absolutely huge and beautiful sound from that resonant low A all the way up through upper range altissimo. Most of those things so far are mainly based on the sax (which I love by the way. If you can afford one, do yourself the favor.), but with these reeds on my setup it was all just amplified so much more. One thing that I really liked was the increased amount of cane at the tip. It really helps with vibrato, also allowing some really crazy bends. The increased thickness both on the tip and at the vamp does provide a great tonal core, which helps when playing overtones. Another thing that I really like as the fact that they included proper break-in and longevity tips, all of which I already knew, but its great information for those players that don't. My only complaint is that out of a box of 5, I got 2 playable reeds, but thats the life of a reed player, and certainly not enough to dock the rating of these gresat reeds.
