(I have) owned the best; Handmade Haynes, Murumatsu, have played chamber music, show orchestras, small quaint jazz groups to big band jazz with Buddy Rich in the 1970's. Great response in all registers. High notes respond easily. Full low tones. Intonation right on. Good resistance and projection. Tone is clear and vibrant. Pitched A442. Flute plays in tune with itself best at A442, but no trouble at A440. It just has a bit more resonance at A442. One negative might be that the action is a bit light. This can be adjusted, though, if like a firmer touch. Years ago, you could not even hope to find a flute of this playing caliber unless you bought one of the big names.
