OVERVIEW

A fun instrument for any trumpet player.

With its impressive and striking black nickel finish, the Allora MXPT-5801-BK pocket trumpet brings quality construction, portability, and playability to a Bb trumpet made compact by its tightly wound tubing. The result is a shorter horn that retains the standard trumpet's dynamic range as well as its power.

The Allora pocket trumpet is equipped with stainless steel valves, a third-valve slide ring, 2 water keys, 3 stainless steel pistons, and it accepts a 7C trumpet mouthpiece. The pocket trumpet has a .459" bore, a 3-2/3" bell and a standard leadpipe. Lacquered brass on some of the slide curves accents the trumpet's dramatic black finish.

Its sharp black nickel plate finish makes this pocket trumpet perfect for the player who wants a cool look as well as a great sound. Its compact size makes the Allora 5801 especially well suited for travel.

Poor intonation

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

If you want a trumpet that you are mostly going to look at, I highly recommend this one. It is adorable, and the finish looks great. However, I could not get it to play in tune above C5 without a massive effort. I had to send it back. I am primarily a woodwind player, so maybe a brass specialist could get better intonation out of it. When I play along with my students, though, I need to be in tune, and this was not doing it for me. Too bad, because it was cute and cheap.

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

I just recieved this Trumpet for my birthday yesterday, allready I need to use a bit of glue. There was a 'Made In ...' sticker on top of the second valve top, where you put your fingers. I removed the sticker, and the little plastic peice came off, that was the only big problem I had with this Trumpet. It looks great, comes with two polishing gloves and a polishing rag. Also comes with a 7C mouthpeice. The tuning slides were all greased up and slide quite nicely, the sound is just like a regular Trumpet, it also looks very nice. The valves weren't oiled, and it didn't come with valve oil, but oh well. If you bought this Trumpet, you obviously know where you can get some valve oil or allready have some. Over all, all you need to do is remove the sticker, if the plastic cap falls off like it did with me, just use some glue, and put some valve oil in the valves and you're ready to go.

Great Trumpet!

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

Don't let its size fool you. This trumpet really projects a full warm tone. Although its happiest in the middle octave it still can bust out the high notes. It looks even better in person than in the photos, and is sure to turn some heads. It is very portable, and very fun to play. Sounds good in all music styles, notably jazz. A great trumpet, at an especially great price!

nice player!

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

Bought as an easily packed practice horn, this will go with me to some of those bar gigs that require tight spaces. The valves are surprisingly tight stainless with the springs at the top. A bright but pleasant sound that will need to be muted with a combo. Performance is improved by using a heavier mouthpiece like a megatone, which will help this slot better in the upper register. Incredible buy !

Good Travelin' Horn, Great Price

Comments about Allora MXPT-5801-BK Black Nickel Series Pocket Trumpet:

I was looking for a horn to take on travel to keep up with practicing. I got this horn a number of months ago, and am very pleased with it. Its carrying case fits in my backpack with room to spare for other items. Its fit and finish are first rate. The valves and slides needed no breaking in (I was especially pleased with the action of the 3rd valve slide that is actuated with a thumb ring.). The horn plays like an intermediate level trumpet or cornet. The intonation is good across the board (is happiest in the middle register). The price makes this an outstanding value. If you're looking for a travelin' horn, or a good first horn that's a good step above a student horn, this one should be high on your list.
