Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

I am a musician that works every weekend. I play fast and my sax needs to work fast too. With this instrument I find my G# sticks more than my old sax. Continue having to swab between sets. May I suggest a stronger G# spring. Just a thought.

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

This horn was bought as a gift for my son who has been playing for a year and had worked hard despite a disappointing school horn rental. Yes, it is a huge leap forward in quality. FYI, I'm a former pro player and still have/play my vintage Selmer MKVI. We opted for the pro model because we felt the increase in quality build was a better value vs cost instead of a student model horn in this brand. This horn feels like my MKVI (very close) in my hands. Action is very good. Mechanically, seems very good and pro-level. Finish was OK. There are some minor mfg blemishes on close inspection- I doubt you'd find this on a new Yamaha or Selmer pro-line, but its 1/3 to 1/4 the cost! Tone is very good- no it's not going to sound like a VI or hi-end Japanese horn, but being realistic, most tonal quality is in the reed, mouthpiece and player. A pro could absolutely play a gig on this horn and feel confident. I was very cautious of the Chinese build, but QC seems excellent, minus finish blemishes. A couple of years playing and it's not really an issue.
The case is mediocre. Interior is fine, but the soft cover is vinyl like material- time will tell, but I don't see it holding up. For the price, you can buy a better case when the original wears out. This is a preliminary review, but very impressed with overall build and performance. The horn (like every other sax) will need some minor adjustment by a good technician to have it playing its best. Overall, early impression is this may be the best horn for the money on the new sax market. I rated the horn a 4 stars because of minor blemishes. Mechanically, it's a 5 star for its price range.

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

I purchased the Allora Paris Series Tenor about 9 months ago. I was so impressed I purchase the Allora Paris Series Alto, which I received this week. I was instantly as pleased with this alto as I have been with the tenor sax. The horn is responsive, has a great sound, and is very easy to play.

I am using the Vandoren V16 mouthpiece, A9, small chamber. It is the perfect setup for me with this horn. I can get darker sounds and also get bright with plenty of projection. This alto has great intonation. I've I found no areas where I have any trouble playing in tune.

This is a great horn for the price. I have played pro Selmer and Yamaha saxes with the Navy for many years, so I know quality. Allora makes a quality saxophone and I'm glad I made the purchase. I look forward to many years of playing these instruments. I highly recommend this instrument to anyone looking to purchase a quality instrument without breaking the bank.

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

Purchased for my son who has been playing for 3 years and outgrew his student quality Bundy. This model was suggested by the repair technician at a local shop, and I'm glad we took his advice! This is a significantly better instrument without breaking the bank and should be perfect for getting him through the more advanced high school band classes. It is a beautiful instrument, and the finish really stands out against the sea of shiny brass in the rest of the band!

Only complaint - the included mouthpiece is garbage. It is too long and therefore makes the instrument play flat. $20 replacement piece fixed the issue and now it is playing perfectly!

Great horn at a great price!

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

Like most people I had never heard of the Allora Paris series saxophones. I bought mine (alto)as a replacement for another more expensive instrument I had to pawn a few years back. I agree with the reviews I've read here and other places online. The key to this instrument is finding the right mouthpiece/reed combination. I found this horn difficult to tune at first. It was extremely flat. I had to push the mouthpiece all the way in, with no cork showing before it would play in tune so I recommend getting plenty of cork grease. I don't recommend using the mouthpiece that comes with the horn. It warbles the low notes. Once I did find a good mouthpiece (Rousseau)with a 2.5 reed strength I was able to get the sound I was looking for. I definitely recommend the Allora Paris Series alto sax. It's a great professional level horn at a price you can't beat. It holds its own up against more expensive horns. If you're not a label queen you'll enjoy playing this horn just fine. Cheers!

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

Decided to look at and eventually bought the Allora Paris Series Alto. Was looking not necessarily to move up but I've been playing a vintage alto. As much as I like the older feel and sound it was starting to show the wear. I looked at a number of horns that were more than twice the price of this one and have to be honest, this alto hung with them in every category. If you need to be a name dropper look at the expensive horn. If you are looking for top notch performance at a great price I would recommend you check these out. WW&BW have a liberal return policy - you'll be glad you took the time to play one of these before dropping big cash.

It's like playing melodies on jewelry..this sax is beautiful

Comments about Allora Paris Series Professional Alto Saxophone:

I had my Allora Paris Series Alto Black Nickel Model for 9 months before writing this review. I LIKE IT. It took a some time for me to find the right mouthpiece and reed combination. I have settled on a Claude Lakey 4*3 and Vandoren V16 2 1/2. Now I am glad to tell you this horn sounds and plays beautifully. The black nickel with the silver keys make the horn looks like it's glowing, like jewelry. The range of sounds I can get out of this horn is starting to scare me as I find I may be it's only limitation. From smooth jazz, gospel, slow ballads or a more ruff rugged sound this horn has it all. Notes: I had it nine months and I had to have the neck recorked ($20.00), but I do play a lot and it has held up otherwise. And, as I mentioned it took me a while to find the right mouth piece/reed combination. Brass horns give you a naturally brighter sound, this black nickel was too dark with some mouthpiece/reed combinations for my own taste, but someone else may like the rich dark, smoky sound on a more consistent basis than myself. I love this horn and I am glad I purchased it. Great price for a down right pretty "Pro" horn. I was worried this sax was all looks with no substance, but that's not true at all. I expect to enjoy many performances with this horn. Oh, yeah...when people see it they say...oh, that's so pretty (women), men say...I've never seen one like that before...they want to say...it's so pretty too! Lol.
