Comments about Altieri AL14 Screwbell Horn Bag:

It's amazing the difference a case will make! Now the heaviest thing I have to lug around is my multiple folders full of music or a laptop bag. This case is so lightweight and portable that sometimes I wonder where I left my horn...when it's already hanging on my shoulder. I've had this Altieri gig bag since I bought my Conn 10DRS 12 years ago, and the durability is unquestionable. I've traveled overseas with my horn, and when I check my horn in the hard case, I often use the gig bag as a (funny looking) carry-on bag. It fits easily in the overhead compartment. The zipper, clasps and stitching are well up to the manhandling I've given it. The only sign of age is a grease ring on the inside of the screwbell pocket where the case touches the threads of the bell - cosmetic issue only. The overall design is like one of those "drop an egg" science experiments - super light weight, yet (while I wouldn't recommend it and haven't tried it) I think my horn could fall off of a moving truck and be little worse for the wear. Granted, I wouldn't want anything heavy to fall on top of it, and I would never send my horn through checked luggage in just the gig bag, but for every day use, it's what I need. The outer pocket is sized for a standard music folder. A folder also provides an extra layer of stability and protection. The backpack straps fold up into the music pocket. Inside, I carry a straight mute in the space between the lead pipe and the outer wrap. The bag comes with two adjustable pads. I fold one into this space to protect the horn from the mute, and I put the second on the other side of the leadpipe to protect from blows. There is a small internal pocket closed with velcro that holds one or two mouthpieces. I have a soft (deerskin) bag for all of my repair supplies that fits perfectly in the space underneath the bell. When I first ordered my bag from WWBW, I received on with a manufacturer defect. The service was great - I returned the bag and received a replacement bag very quickly after. I've been very satisfied ever since. I don't remember what I paid, but divide that by 12 hard years, and it doesn't even matter any more!
