Style of music: The music of life (all of life)
Hometown Stettler, AB
This tuba certainly looks interesting, with its unusual wrap and tight dimensions. Good for a gig, perhaps. It is light and the valves work smoothly (when well oiled and kept that way). But a short period of time with a mouthpiece proves this to be an unsympathetic amplifier for your lips' vibrations. The pitch is vague, and as hard to find as a pay phone on a dark night. The first octave can be resonant once you find that pitch, but only if a delicate technique is used. Overblowing makes this horn sound like a foghorn. The second and third octaves are much the same, but a bit less vague in regards to the pitch. The fourth octave is only for those who like Harry Partch's tuning systems better than equal temperment. But it is inexpensive to buy.
