I bought this amp in March, and it is absolutely amazing. I had been using an SWR rig, which wasn't exactly cutting it as far as tone was concerned. I played a friends SVT-3 for several weeks, and when I had enough money to buy my own Ampeg, the Classic won out. It has a very warm tone, and excellent midrange; there is a little bit of extra growl in the midrange frequencies, which definately brings out each note much more. This is also one of the easiest to use amps on the market, it takes you almost no time to dial in whatever tone you want. This amp sounds crushing with my band, which plays a Pantera style of metal, and my bassist in my other band, a death metal outfit where we tune down to B, has used this at gigs and it still sounds amazing. The only downside is the weight of the amp, but who cares, it gives you killer tone!
