My parents bought my Armstrong flute for me when I was in 5th grade. That was a long time ago! I still have my flute, and it still sounds great after all these years. It went through years of band in high school for both myself and my cousin. Now, as a teacher, I keep my flute in the classroom to play with students needing assistance, or play with students in talent shows. I am amazed that I still have my flute after all this time, and that it still has such a clear sound. This is a positive testament to the superb quality of the Armstrong instruments! Barbara
I was given this instrument as a graduation gift (used) by my cooperating teacher in Texas almost ten years ago. I never took it to a music shop for repairs because none were needed. This poor flute had no case at the time I moved (starving college kid), was dropped many times over the years...was basically abused more than Joan Crawford's kids in "Mommy Dearest." Yet every time I pick up my flute it still plays with more purity of tone than many new flutes I've worked with over the years and I still get that rush I did that first day I played it. Each time I allow one of my kids to try it out every one of them simply say "Wow," when they're through. Since I took on a couple of flute solos in a pinch, I found that now I'm known for my flute playing rather than sax in the area. And yes, I now have a case for my flute! :-) Now I just have to get some of those pads replaced...
