Atkinson Brass designs remarkable French Horns for all levels of players, from students to professionals. A family business, Atkinson Brass has been in business for 36 years, initially as a repair service for horns. While the company still repairs and customizes horns, their exceptional designs are responsible for their popularity.
Mark Atkinson grew up working in his father’s shop and learned much about the musical and technical sides of the French horn. His father, Robert Atkinson, and brother, Jim Atkinson, were well acquainted with Carl Geyer, who designed the infamous Geyer wrap. This association ensures that the Atkinson French Horns are richly steeped in the tradition of this instrument while also being open to innovation and customization. In the mid-1980s, Mark Atkinson became acquainted with Bernard Marston, the first person to make precision valves in the U.S. From there, production of exceptional French horns manifested creating a brand that is valued among musicians of varying skill.
The Woodwind and Brasswind offers a selection of Atkinson French Horns ranging from the Atkinson A600 Intermediate Double French Horn for young players and the Atkinson A800 Pro Double French Horn for the professional musician. Choose from among other designs such as the ultra lightweight Atkinson AG2000 Double Horn or the Ambronze bell of the Atkinson NR501 Erfurt Double Horn. For the soloist or chamber musician, the Atkinson Erfurt NN508 Nickel Silver Double Horn is the perfect Atkinson French Horn. Its responsive, expressive quality is due in part to its handspun nickel silver bell.
Whether you are an advancing hornist in the school band or a professional musician looking for a horn adept to your experience, Atkinson French Horns provide rich, responsive instruments to be valued.
