I've used Attack heads for a long while and have found them to be of a very high quality and very reasonably priced. I've used them on my Ludwig Classic Maple kit, a custom Manhattan Cocktail kit and a Yamaha Stage Custom kit. They have worked wonderfully on all. They work very well when tuned up and in a situation were a player is wanting the drums to ring a bit (a word of advice to young players: unless you are close micing your drums, a drum has to ring a bit to be heard over electrified instruments and loud PA mixes. Don't be afraid of the ring nor natural overtones. But, learn to tune each drum individually and in conjunction with the other drums of your kit). If you are looking for a lower register of sound, go with a 2 ply head....the single ply will sound 'thin' to you. I've found these heads work very well live (they really allow the drums to cut through the mix) and in the studio when used with a bit of muffling such as a Muffle ring. The only problem I've ever had with Attack heads was one that pulled away from the metal rim. The manufacturer had to replace the product directly, which they did. Lastly the price is incredible when you consider the price of other heads. Less the $30 to outfit an entire kit.....awesome! The single ply heads are a worthy alternative to any other manufacturers like product (Remo Ambassadors/Evans G-1).
