I bought an Audix ADX10-FL flute mic when the product came out in March 2005 and I've used it maybe a dozen times since.. I like the design of the mic. It is small, lightweight and the gain before feedback is fantastic. The sound is very good for a mic of its type, clear and warm, a combination that is rather uncommon. I go through the preamp into the PA and with a touch of reverb the sound is lovely. I like the way the clip attaches to the flute headjoint, it can't damage the flute (as is common with other flute mics) and it's held firmly in place. The Audix flute mic came with a condenser preamp. It is a small box (heavy, though) with a belt clip. It is also made by Audix and is model APS-911. It operates on a single AA battery which lasts many, many days. The preamp has a mini-XLR in and an XLR out. I was happy to get the preamp module as part of the package as some of the sales material suggested it was optional. The only low points are the key or touch noise (not noticeable in actual performance with other instruments, in my experience) and the windscreen that detaches from the mic too easily. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with my Audix ADX10-FL.

"Best flute mic so far"

and I have had three clip-ons: Yamaha, K&K and AMT. The ADX10-FLP has the cleanest sound, terrific gain before feedback, and is well placed at the end of the flute although a little inconvenient taking on and off with the end cap. The "pop" screen does a great job eliminating breath wind but I have to be careful not to gasp on the inhale because it picks that up pretty well. I had a problem with the metal clip ring sliding inside the rubber o-ring. I filled the gap with silicon glue and it stopped the sliding as well as help dampen the key noise(which is noticeable). The XLR in/out provides a strong, stable connection that I feel confident with in performing. A side note: it no longer comes with the APS-910 preamp but comes with the APS-911, AA powered preamp which has both phantom and DC power capability...better deal.
