I really missed having a C trumpet. I have gradually been building up my trumpet kit since selling some of my horns when I quit college 25 years ago. The past 10 years I have gotten into playing trumpet again, big time. I bought a Strad D/Eb a few years ago and love playing it. I decided I needed a C again. Since money was a big factor this time around, I was all set to buy the inexpensive Blessing and put up with its limitations. Tom at B&W talked me out of buying the cheap Blessing and buying a "not factory sealed" B&S Challenger that I got for under $1000. What a great horn. It plays and feels just like my Strad. I don't play a Strad Bb, but a Benge. I used to have a Strad C and there is just a certain feel about a Strad. This is how this horn feels. I am so pleased by it, and I really got a great deal on it. I highly recommend it, especially if you can find one, like I did, that was not factory sealed. It was brand new, without a scratch on it, and it cost under a grand. Valves and intonation are terrific. Nothing to complain about.
