"The best harness option available"

I've been using a harness (as opposed to a neck strap) for tenor saxophone for over ten years now. I do so because the harness is much kinder to my spine than the neck strap. As a teacher of the Alexander Technique, I regularly recommend to all saxophonists to consider the harness option for this reason. By placing the weight of the instrument through the shoulders (and hence through the whole spine) instead of directly through the neck it greatly reduces the potential for neck injury as well as allows for greater freedom and ease in the arms and hands. I had been using a Neotech for many years, as this was the only option available when I first started using a harness. I have two complaints about the Neotech harness: there is no mobility of the instrument (sort of locked into place), and the elastic shoulder straps detracted from stability of the instrument. The design of the BG harness completely resolves these issues. The straps are thick but solid (no neoprene rubber)and comfortable, and the hook for the instrument swivels freely to allow a similar range of motion that a neck strap does. As a bonus, it is super easy to make adjustments in the harness to dial in the fit (not really the case with the Neotech). It really is no more trouble to use this harness than it is to use a neck strap, and if functions beautifully. You hardly even sense the weight of the instrument as you play, and your increased mobility and freedom in your neck will significantly improve the comfort and safety of playing the saxophone, especially if you spend long periods practicing and performing. Highly recommended!

"A very good harness."

I disagree with the reviewer below. I find the Neotech straps way too bouncy and annoying. The BG strap works fine. Disclaimer: I am a 5'5'' woman, I play both baritone and alto professionally and use the same BG harness for both instruments. I am now buying my second harness since the metal hook on my old harness broke after 10 years of use.

if u play baritone sax then this is not for you. the straps have no pads. and the clip moves around quite abit. if u are looking for a harness a good one is a neotech one.
