The market is flooded with new horns, new mouthpieces all guaranteed to enhance ones playing ability. The Bach Stradivarius in the lacquer finish is a great all around trumpet; no matter what styles you play. Great center, quality of sound, intonation, and over all flexibility.
I really enjoy playing on this horn. When I started playing, I was one a student Bach instrument. Last year, my band director introduced me to the Stradivarius and I loved it. This horn has a great tone quality in all registers, and it has good response. This horn is easy to play in tune with. It's just a good overall instrument. Although there is one thing that didn't change between the instruments that I thought I should include. It didn't make it any easier to play in the higher register, if anyone was wondering.
I bought this horn used in 2004. The lacquer was in poor shape and the valve section was starting to pit because of it. I completely stripped the lacquer. I like the way it looks. It's a beautiful instrument.
This horn plays like a dream. It slots extremely well. The silver bell makes it a heavy trumpet. That took a little getting used to. Silver is also softer than brass so take extra care with this horn. The bell can ding easily.
If you can afford a Bach Stradivarius with the Sterling Silver Plus bell, buy it. The intonation is very good. It's even better if you get the valves professionally aligned. The sound is huge and rich; the way a trumpet should sound.
This is now the only trumpet I play. I can produce a deep, mellow, rich tone, and in the next phrase I can peel the paint off the walls with screaming high notes. All on the same horn!
I don't know if this is the trumpet for you, but it sure is for me!
