I like the sound of this mute, but it's not too much better than most straight mutes. The corks tend to slide around and fall off after a while. I had to super-glue them to keep them in place. All in all, a fair mute. However, I don't feel it would be worth trading up for.
I bought this, and it works great in my strad, and my tr300. But it does NOT work in my Schilke, or the Yamaha my friend has! Do not buy if you do not have a Bach! If you do, it sounds nice, but intonation is terrible.
Although this is one of the best sounding straight mutes I have used, the intonation battle becomes a laboring chore more so than many others. Not a go-to mute for longer unison passages...but, you can never have too many staight mutes.
Sounds very very nice. But the intonation is bad, the corks come off easily, and the mute falls out of my trumpet (which is a Bach, by the way), very easily.
