Bach 42A Stradivarius Trombone with Hagmann ValveThe Bach 42A Stradivarius Tenor Trombone with Hagmann Valve is a great choice for the player looking for a less resistant F attachment. It features the Rene Hagmann Free-Flowâ„¢ valve which eliminates the back pressure that occurs in the F attachment with traditional rotor systems. The 42A offers an open response in all registers, with it's 8.5-inch one-piece hand-hammered bell, .547-inch bore with an open wrap F attachment. It includes a deluxe case and mouthpiece.

I began playing trombones in 1967 and I've played a Bundy as a kid, Conn 88H with Rose bell, 2 LT42Bs, and now finally this wonderful LT42AG. Thank You Bach for making a wonderful instrument that has a dark enough tone to please symphony conductors while also being sturdy enough to project with authority in a jazz ensemble or commercial band, without the blaring or rasping that some horns do when performing volume levels of 3 an 4 fortes. Great lightweight Bach slide coupled with the quiet and quick responding (short throw) Hagmann valve makes this horn a preferred model and a definite keeper.
I have been playing trombone for the past five years. In those years I have played many trombones, including a Yamaha pea-shooter, a blessing f- attachment, and previous to my new one an Olds bass trombone. They have all been good horns; I recommend them to intermediate players of all ages. But this horn by far is the best I've ever played. The slide is extremely smooth, with the right care of course. The trigger is unbelievably quiet and the sound is just as clear as normal position. The sound quality is exceptional, as you would expect from a Bach .On all registers this horn is excellent. I play bass for our school Jazz Band and 1st in Concert and the notes come out clear either way. This is truly an exceptional horn and I would recommend it for any avid trombonist.
Having played on a two conn 88H's, a yamaha xeno, a blessing f attach., a getzen bass trombone, and numerous pea-shooters, this horn blows all of the away by far. this horn feels much more open and free than conn's or yamaha's. Low notes pop out nicely and the horn sings in the high register. Don't go for conn's or yamaha's, go for a Bach 42. Also, the hagmann valves is my personal favorite over thayer and conventional rotor valves. it has no "kick" when engaged, the tone and intonation is impeccable, and it is completely silent. Any musician looking for a new horn to play in any ensemble should get this horn.
