OVERVIEW

The 42BO Stradivarius Series is the top selling Bach for advancing to professional players.

The Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F Attachment Trombone is a professional Strad model designed for a large symphonic sound that projects without distortion. The Bach 42BO features a .547-inch bore with an open wrap design for less resistance for the player. The Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F Attachment Trombone includes a case and mouthpiece and is available with a variety of bell options such as yellow brass (42BO), gold brass (42BOG) or Sterling silver (42BOR) and also with a lightweight slide with a yellow brass bell (LT42BO) or gold brass bell (LT42BOG).

The 42BO Series features an open wrap F Attachment section. The open wrap design of the rotor section places fewer and larger bends in the tubing, resulting in less blowing resistance. The open warp also offers a more true sound, so when the player uses the F Attachment the sound is not different from the sound of the trombone without the trigger engaged.

Bach Stradivarius trombones are famous for their fullness of sound and projection. This is achieved by the use of one-piece construction, allowing for unrestricted vibration of the bell. In addition to the shape of the bell flare and the type and thickness of the bell material also affect the sound. Gold brass, softer and more red than the standard yellow brass due to a higher copper content results in a warm tone. Sterling Plus bells create a full compliment of partials, or overtones, in the tonal spectrum for a focused sound with great projection. Trombones with a heavyweight bell in yellow or gold brass can be special ordered for a player needing an instrument for situation involving dark qualities or high dynamic levels without distortion.

Lightweight handslides, denoted by LT before the model number, indicates a handslide made of nickel silver. The weight of the slide has been reduced by using nickel silver tubing on the outer slide tubes. The lightweight slide offers a quicker response to the player, while being resistant to corrosion.

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

I bought this model "gently used" with the gold brass bell option. To my surprise it looked brand new, even my trombone/euphonium professor couldn't find a scratch. My favorite quote from the Ph.D. was "if you ever think of selling this tell me". The slide is very nice, very nice projection and tone production. My main instrument is euphonium, but this horn makes me think about switching! I highly recommend it.

Tone is a plus

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

When you read the description of it having a uniform tone, they are not joking at all. This trombone also offers when less air resistance then a traditional wrap trombone and for it being a large bore. it is easy for high school to proffessional people to play. This trombone beats any other brand no doubt about it.

All I can say is that this instrument is worth it! Hands down no questions asked! I have had a student trombone for almost 10 years and I have made a wonderful purchase on a trombone that will last me years to come! Although expensive, if you are serious about your music, this is worth it all!!

Bach 42BO

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

The Bach 42 is an amazing piece of equipment, one of the most common professionally used orchestral trombones in the world. Has a huge sound that can really fill up a performance hall, yet it blends perfectly with other instruments in an orchestra or wind band. Performs very well at extreme dynamics, tone still stays solid even at ff-fff and pp-ppp. The open wrap F attachment helps keep your tone consistent with the valve open vs. closed, and the valve action itself is very smooth and quick. I've heard people say that they're had issues with it, such as a stuffy high range and somewhat slow response. While I have noticed these somewhat, they aren't very noticeable and they aren't a big deal. Honestly, if you feel like you absolutely need something better than this, you just need to practice more. On a side not, while the included 6-1/2A mouthpiece is nice, I would recommend getting a larger mouthpiece, especially for orchestral playing. I use a Bach 4G with my 42, and it really takes any edge off of the tone and makes it blend just perfectly. Still projects great for solo work too.

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

This horn by Vincent Bach, is the best horn that I have ever played on. It is expensive but worth every cent, you will not be disapointed. It has a very rich sound and amazing tone quality. No other horn that I have played can even come close to matching the quality of this horn. This horn is perfect for high school sutdents through profesional. Highly recomend this horn to anyone who is a true trombone player!

An Overall Beautiful Horn

By

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

The first thing is, this horn is worth every penny, and you will not be disappointed! After playing the Yamaha Xeno, Getzen, Conn 88, Blessing, and Weril, it was obvious this horn is the best. Hands down, the tone quality was simply unbelievable. It's deep, yet warm and beautiful. Also, I play in a marching band, and it handled higher dynamic levels much better than the others. In terms of articulation, legato tonguing is wonderful, but you will need to work at it to front the note and accent. I would also suggest getting an upgraded mouthpiece, a 6 1/2al is ok, but there's better out there. The rotor, when oiled and maintained, is definitely manageable, despite any reputation you may have heard concerning it being noisy or clunky. The open wrap F side is a little stuffy, as is all horns, but if you use a full breath and move the air(like a good trombone player always does) it sounds superb nonetheless. The general build quality of the horn is perfection, I have no doubt in my mind it will last for years to come. I suggest it to any player looking to take the next step!

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

I've been playing this horn for a little more than 3 years now and it has done nothing but good for me. Only complaint I have is my trigger has an annoying click when I push it. I don't know if it;s just my horn or what but other than that, it's an amazing horn and absolutely recommend it.

Air Required

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

I've really enjoyed playing this horn as a collegian. It has a large bore and definitely takes a LOT of air. I found it to take a lot more air than, say, the yamaha xeno.... but I also found the tone to be MUCH richer and appealing to the ear.

Truly a Great Trombone

By

from Chicago, Illinois

Comments about Bach 42BO Stradivarius Series F-Attachment Trombone:

After having the opportunity to play one of these trombones for a while, I must admit that it is definitely worth the money. Even without playing it, the effort put into creating this horn truly shows (and will continue to show with proper care). If you are a student in high school looking to expand your playing abilities on a more professional horn, this trombone is a great choice. With the open wrap F attachment, you don't have to worry so much about your sound coming out stuffy or slighty muted (though I'm not saying closed wrap horns are bad, but most people can project more sound on an open wrap). When played, this trombone gives out a great smooth legato sound, but it could use a little work when you need a nice short articulation. Overall, this Bach is a great choice when deciding to continue on in the performance of the best instrument ever created.

I own a 42BOG with the lightweight slide and gold brass bell and its unbelievable, the only problem I have so far is the clanky rotor.
