Bach LR180S37 Stradivarius Series Bb TrumpetThis is the flagship Bach Stradivarius trumpet, among the most popular professional trumpets in the world. The Bach LR180S-37 Stradivarius Professional Bb Trumpet features the Model 25LR (reverse) mouthpipe, lightning-fast Monel valves, a lightweight body, and .459" medium-large bore. The standard weight 37 bell is famous for it fulln sound and excellent projection. Its one-piece construction allows for unrestricted bell vibration, and its slow taper enhances its brilliance. The lightweight body results in a quick and lively response that is favored by classical players, but that is also appropriate to commercial work and jazz. This particular Stradivarius features a brilliant silver-plated finish, and comes with a 1st valve slide hook, a 3rd valve slide ring, case, and a mouthpiece.

I went from a Maynard Ferguson professional model Holton trumpet. It was their top of the line MF horn and I loved it, or thought I did. Then I tried the LR180S37 at the music store I work at and couldn't get it out of my head until I bought it. This trumpet feels a lot different then any other trumpet i've ever played. This makes it hard to get used to as well. My intonation took some time to get right, but once it did everything got better. The valves make these trumpets really responsive and smooth. The LR pipe opens up your sound and takes away some of that stuffy feeling associated with most Bach Strads. I would recommend trying different bell sizes before buying. You need to know what sounds best for you. My professor uses the 43 bell but I prefer the 37. Overall, get this trumpet!
My first horn was a Holton, which was a great student horn, but eventually I had to take the step-up. Initially, I wanted something other than a Strad, looking particularly at the Yamahas. However, after test playing both, along with a Getzen, I found that there really was a reason for the Strad's popularity. Its sound is legendary, and unmatched. The LR180, though, is even a step up from the 180. While its lightweight body gives you the quick response, the standard weight bell gives you the famous Bach sound, and the reversed leadpipe gives you the free-blowing feeling of larger bore models, while being easier to support. I found that the sound in the middle to upper register is particularly brilliant. The one thing I warn about, if you choose to but any Stradivarius, is buy it from somewhere where you can test-play THE ACTUAL HORN YOU PURCHASE. Bach has had a nasty tendency to have a few too many lemons. Ideally you can have your horn test played and approved by a professional, but if you are in the position to buy a Strad, you probably can evaluate it fairly well by yourself.
I bought this horn 3 years ago and I love the quality of it. The trumpet is extremely well worth every penny. It gets to the point to where you do not have to worry about what the instrument will play like because it is always there. The construction of this horn allows great tone that can be projected nicely.
This horn is the greatest horn for players planning on moving up in skill! It's the ultimate professional horn.
