I received this horn in April of 2005, when I was a freshman in high school. My trumpet teacher thought I was ready for a professional horn, so he did what he does with his other students that buy a new horn through him-- he play-tested about 10 different Bach Strads and chose the one he thought played and sounded the best.
I'm now about to start my second year as a music major at CSULB and I've been very happy with this horn. The response is excellent; the tone can be mellow, but it can also be edgy when needed, while always keeping a good core. The lightweight horn/gold brass bell combination works nicely-- the gold brass bell keeps the tone from sounding overly harsh, which is what some lightweight horns are notorious for.
I haven't had the chance to play as many different professional horns as I'd like to, but out of the few I've played (a handful of Strads, a couple Yamahas, and a Getzen), my horn is hands down the best.
