Bach's 37 Lightweight horn is overall a great specialty version of a 37. Compared to standard weight, LR models and the new 182, the LT37 has a better response, a livelier tone and feels freer blowing than standard construction models.
However, they do require a more focused and intense airstream to create and maintain the great core of tone that made 37's famous. Otherwise it can sound on the thin side and not project as well.
Additionally, LT horns are much more delicate than standard weight horns and require great care to avoid accidental damage. Bach's new models use bracing that is even narrower and thinner metal than traditional LT models-which does save weight-but-from an engineering point of view-also compromises the overall durability and structural integrity of the horn.
For most players the standard weight 37 might be the most judicious choice with its fine tuned balance of durability, a great focused sound, and good response.
LT 37's are an excellent choice for players who already have very strong airstreams and can delicately handle these nice horns.
I have recently bought this horn for my acceptance into my local marching band. It was an upgrade from my old horn. The first thing i noticed was that it had incredible sound and the valves are great if you have the choice between this one and another go with this was a definite buy.
This horn is absolutely breathtaking. Besides it beauty, its response is phenomenal. The valves are quick, the slides never need greasing. The case is great. Dropped out of my trunk and didn?t even scratch the case. Excellent horn for any player.
