Used Bari

Bari reeds are available for Bb and bass clarinets as well as for soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones. These exceptional reeds are the result of many years of research and development and are responsible for the great response and full sound produced by instruments using this reed.

Professional musician Wolfe Taninbaum was an accomplished player who lent his skills to such acts as Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, Les Brown, and the orchestras of CBS and NBC. His interest in reeds grew out of his own dissatisfaction with their inconsistencies. As a musician, he was irritated by the strong differences he found in his instruments’ sounds and playability when he changed reeds. For years he dedicated himself to perfecting cane reeds with maximum consistency but finally abandoned them for synthetics. With a synthetic reed Taninbaum found he could create a reliably consistent reed with nearly the exact qualities as cane reeds. He introduced his first synthetic reed in 1952 and it was the first synthetic to be widely accepted by top musicians.

Several advantages exist with synthetic reeds. These reeds wear differently than cane reeds and therefore last much longer. The two reeds from Bari are the Bari Original and the Bari Star. Bari Original contributes a brilliant, vibrant sound with a focused projection. The Bari Star produces a warm and dark sound with a more rounded tone. Both of these Bari reeds are available for both clarinets and saxophones and come in soft, medium, or hard strengths.
