The low C bass requires more than the standard "bass" or tenor sax reed to bring out its full rich sound. The will respond well to Bb 4.I find that a slight lightening of the reed sides, just as wide as the mouthpiece rails is the only adjustments needed. They last, don't warp and respond immediately. Wash them and your mouthpiece after each session or at least each day played. The reed can be stored on the mouthpiece but do not tighten too much (will warp the mouthpiece).

I finally decided to try a Bari Star on my rig. My mouthpieces of choice are a vintage Dukoff Miami with 9 star, a vintage Brilhart Levelaire in 9 star, and a vintage Gregory, in 6 star.
