50 years ago Wolfe Taninbaum developed a unique tenor facing that Otto Link applied to his blanks and named it the WT facing. It became so popular that it is now a collectors item at $350-$400. An original was found and copied with facings from 5*-10. The WTII is gold plated - with cap and ligature - in a slide top - cedar wood box.

I have quite a few mouthpieces and favor some much more than others, but first I'd like to say especially to students, is that there are no miracle mouthpieces because there is no substitute for practice, if you don't have the chops you won't be able to make even the best of mouthpieces sound good. Now getting to the sound, I really don't understand why the manufacturer compares the WTII to an Otto Link, I have an STM and they don't resemble each other in any way, they are on different ends of the tonal spectrum. The link has what I would call a conventional sound, more or less what Adolf Sax would have wanted. A large chamber, large bore. The WTII has a med. high baffle, (but not wedge shaped) into what I would consider a small round bore, and it can be quite bright when you want it to be. The Link has an almost hard rubber type bite to it; Where the WTII has almost the same pitch but a much narrower bite. My WTII is a #7 and my Link is an 8* and playing Vandoren Java #2s blow about the same, I've also tried Rico Jazz Selects and LaVoz in different strengths but I much prefer the Javas. I hope my 2 cents will be of some help to at least one other person. If you have a musical gift and talent for music, make sure you realize where the gift comes from!
I bought this piece with my new Guardala NY alto. I played this piece before on a Mk VI and a Yamaha 62 and it played really well. Smooth when I wanted and can get some edge when pushed. However, it balks a bit on my Guardala, even with 4 different models and 3 different strengths of reeds. Would not hesitate to get this piece for another horn! It is a lot of mouthpiece for the price.
