Bari WTII Tenor Saxophone MouthpieceFifty years ago, Wolfe Taninbaum developed a unique tenor facing that Otto Link applied to his blanks and named it the WT facing. It became so popular that it is now a collector's item. The WTII is gold-plated, with cap and ligature, and comes in a slide-top, cedar wood box.

I was fairly excited about buying this mouthpiece, but that was before I got it. I ordered a 6* for tenor. When i got the mouthpiece i was suprised how thin it was, because i thought it was going to be like an ottolink. It is NOTHING like an ottolink. The tenor mouthpiece of this is about as thin if you look at it head on as a dukoff alto mouthpiece is. I have a dukoff alto and i've looked at them side to side. When i tried this mouthpiece i couldn't put as much air through it as i wanted, though this might be due to the smaller facing. On my 6 ottolink STM i could pay way more air though. This bari appears to be poorly designed to me, it seems as if it has the dimensiuons of an alto mouthpiece, but made much longer. When i put it on my cork it cut through the cork, and the only ligature i could find to fit it was a leather one. I was just now experimenting with it, and IT FIT ON MY ALTO NECKPIECE. Advice, don't order this unless you want to try it with a very large facing(such as an 8). I definatley will not be looking as any more Bari products.
This mouthpiece just hit the ceiling easily in the altissimo range and punches the bottom end with authority.
I recorded myself and then with a combo and boy, did this mouthpiece really stand out. It's edgy, but not so overwhelmingly edgy as to be super-cutting and too bright. The sound is very compact and does not spread out too fat (for want of a more descriptive term).
I figured that the baffle conical shape and small chamber design really pushed the airflow more easily and with greater force. That's my opinion, which may not be scientific and hey, "It works for me"
