Comments about Bay Alto Saxophone Ligature:

I recently bought this and wow what a joy.The minute I slip this on my Vandoren Optimum Al3, I was heaven. This has such a nice, warm, and sweet tone. Even better, the bay ligature makes it effortless to play. Currently, I had a piece of cork put inside the ligature and it enhances the qualities even more! I bought the Gold version. I haven't tested out the Silver version; however, I would recommend either or because this ligature is hands down the best ligature I have ever played on. Only downside to these is that they only make them for Alto and Soprano Saxophone.

Comments about Bay Alto Saxophone Ligature:

I switched to a new alto saxophone halfway through my senior year of high school (last December), continued to buy a new mouthpiece, eventually settling on a Eugene Rousseau classic, and after 7 months of playing with my the stock ligature that came with my original saxophone (a Cannonball; the ligature that came with the Yamaha Custom Z really did not work for me), I decided I really needed to try a different ligature as my stock one seemed to be holding me back (was mainly interested in finding a ligature to promote a classical, dark tone). I have tried a few other ligatures, including the BG Super Revelation, the Rovner: Eddie Daniels, and the BG Standard ligature. Both BG ligatures while cheaper, really did not get the job done; the tightening latch on them seemed to break down just over a couple weeks of use, and then the Eddie Daniels, while creating a nice bright tone for jazz, made it difficult to control intonation. This ligature (I ordered the one made of silver [note that I think that it came in rhodium regardless, as the package it came in said "rhodium"]) was very awesome when first putting it onto my mouthpiece and playing. It did not fit perfectly, however, the material is thin enough that one should be able to make it work on most any mouthpiece without fear of bending it in some odd way; it seems to just meld naturally with the mouthpiece (but note that it feels delicate, and so do use caution when tightening it, although I have not had any issues with it in 3 weeks of use). I have read that the gold version of this ligature creates a darker tone than the rhodium and silver counterparts; however, I will vouch for this rhodium (?) one and say that it is creating a much darker and controlled tone than any other ligature I have used. GREAT product.
