I went without Blue Juice for several weeks and noticed that other valve oils do not even compare to Blue Juice. I can put Blue Juice on and it lasts forever! I don't even think about my valves.
I've used it all: Holton, Bach, Giardinelli, Al Cass, even Alisyn. The Blue Juice minimizes the amount I've oiled my horns (I've got 7 to keep in optimum condition) and keeps the valves squeaky clean. Even on my one el-cheapo horn without Monel pistons, it leaves no residue, and keeps the wear down to practically zero! I would recommend this to beginners and old fellas (and gals) alike. Just remember that if you're converting from another oil, you'll probably have to watch how much you'll want to use it. It doesn't take that much, and if you put a drop into your slides, it'll help keep the metal of your horn in good condition, especially during a short storage period.
I love Blue Juice and it?s absolutely amazing. Only had minor problems on my euphonium using it compared to a lot of other oils, because my euphonium?s 20-30 years old and has some valve problems. I think it?s about the same as Al Cass, though it definitely looks cooler and lasts longer.
This is a great oil, but it has its pros and cons. Pros Stays on very long , I've had time where I havent re-oiled in a week and it stayed slick enough for me to play. You can accually feel it getting slicker with every use Cons -Smells pretty bad -Rarely,BUT SOMETIMES leaves "presents" in my trumpet Overall Great Worth buying? Of course! If you dont mind the smell
I heard about how good this valve oil was from one of my school techs so i ordered some and it is simply amazing on valves not rotors. I only use blue juice on my marching mellophone and my jazz trumpet but i will never use it again on my french horn. It made all the gears under the caps stick. Its good stuff for trombones, euphonium, and trumpets but i wouldn't recommend using it on rotor tubas or french horns. Over all its really good stuff but only for certain instruments
