Blue Juice is the only valve oil I've used for 15 years. This stuff works great. It helps maintain smooth valve action, keeps wear to a minimum, and keeps the valves EXTREMELY clean. My horn tech can't believe my 10-year-old valves show so little wear. It doesn't seem to react with my slide oil (Space Filler), and it leaves no residue.
Blue Juice is honestly the best Valve oil out there. It makes my Euphonium Valves super slick, so I can play those fast runs and speedy passages.
Blue Juice is simply the best product due to its reasonable price, minimal odor, and perfect functionality. Other oils I've used (Al Cass, Yamaha, etc), smell ridiculously bad or dry up too fast (and) cannot compare to Blue Juice. This oil also keeps valves running smoothly during all temperatures (great for marching band/drum corps).
This product is amazing!!! Ever since I?ve started playing the trumpet for, I've only used one 2 0z. bottle! The other trumpets said that the blue color in it was just to show it off, but all of them were using other valve oils every week and I only used it every other week. They were spending a lot of money just to keep their valves oiled. And their oil was always leaving some sort of residue behind. Mine didn't leave a mark. Soon all of them were using Blue Juice Valve Oil. As a student player I really like this product. You should try it!
This is the best valve oil I have ever owned. It has the right consistency, makes valves smooth, and doesn't dry up like other oils I have tried. It is a bit more expensive, but it comes in a bigger bottle and it is worth it. I use it on my trumpet and the valves are the smoothest they have ever been.
I've used it all: Holton, Bach, Giardinelli, Al Cass, even Alisyn. The Blue Juice minimizes the amount I've oiled my horns (I've got 7 to keep in optimum condition) and keeps the valves squeaky clean. Even on my one el-cheapo horn without Monel pistons, it leaves no residue, and keeps the wear down to practically zero! I would recommend this to beginners and old fellas (and gals) alike. Just remember that if you're converting from another oil, you'll probably have to watch how much you'll want to use it. It doesn't take that much, and if you put a drop into your slides, it'll help keep the metal of your horn in good condition, especially during a short storage period.
I switched to Blue Juice about a year ago, after using Al Cass for years. It gives lighting-fast valve action when the valves are nice & clean, and I've yet to see a real sticking (valve stays down) problem since I switched. However, I've consistently felt the valves get progressively 'gummier' (come back up slowly, but smoothly), over the course of a few weeks after cleaning the horn. As soon as I scrub the valves & re-oil, everything?s back to being fantastically fast. (I've taken to cleaning the valves & casings about every couple of weeks, to keep things moving. I've also noticed that I have to be very careful not to over-oil: if the valves are getting sluggish & I add Blue Juice, I'm as likely to make them slower, as to make them faster.
I was first introduced to blue juice by a fellow trumpet player. It works very well. I can go weeks without putting on any valve after using it. I will recommend it to everyone.
I had been told by many that Hetmans was the best valve oil out there. That stuff is terrific and keeps the valves from sticking, but I had a continuous problem of yellow residue building up on the valves and in the horn's tubing. A very prominent repair tech recommended the Blue Juice and I haven't looked back since. I've had no sticking problems whatsoever with this valve oil and even better, no ugly residue buildup. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!
I've used this oil for about a year now. It keeps my valves nice and smooth. It has no odor. It leaves no residue so my valves are always nice and clean. I've tried other brands like Yamaha but the oil wouldn't come out of the bottle and it made my valves dirty. The only problem I have with it is that people get into my case and steal it from me.
