This is a great oil, but it has its pros and cons.
Stays on very long , I've had time where I havent re-oiled in a week and it stayed slick enough for me to play.
You can accually feel it getting slicker with every use
-Smells pretty bad
-Rarely,BUT SOMETIMES leaves "presents" in my trumpet
Worth buying? Of course! If you dont mind the smell
I've used this oil for ten years with no complaints. It works great in all weather conditions (lots of marching band, drum corps use) and doesn't require frequent reapplication as some other brand oils do.
It is a bit less viscous than some other brands, so apply a bit less than you'd expect to prevent valve drips.
Blue Juice is the first valve oil I ever used, and I was undying faithful to it for almost seven years. I've never really been a big fan of the smell. It has a unique, pungent smell that will stay on you for hours if you accidentally spill some on your clothing. After switching valve oils, I'm not sure I'll ever go back to Blue Juice. Some could say my reasons are purely cosmetic, because this valve oil is definitely a fantastic product. So if you don't mind the smell, I would highly recommend it. :)
Blue Juice is simply the best product due to its reasonable price, minimal odor, and perfect functionality. Other oils I've used (Al Cass, Yamaha, etc), smell ridiculously bad or dry up too fast (and) cannot compare to Blue Juice. This oil also keeps valves running smoothly during all temperatures (great for marching band/drum corps).
I heard about how good this valve oil was from one of my school techs so i ordered some and it is simply amazing on valves not rotors. I only use blue juice on my marching mellophone and my jazz trumpet but i will never use it again on my french horn. It made all the gears under the caps stick. Its good stuff for trombones, euphonium, and trumpets but i wouldn't recommend using it on rotor tubas or french horns. Over all its really good stuff but only for certain instruments
I've used it all: Holton, Bach, Giardinelli, Al Cass, even Alisyn. The Blue Juice minimizes the amount I've oiled my horns (I've got 7 to keep in optimum condition) and keeps the valves squeaky clean. Even on my one el-cheapo horn without Monel pistons, it leaves no residue, and keeps the wear down to practically zero! I would recommend this to beginners and old fellas (and gals) alike. Just remember that if you're converting from another oil, you'll probably have to watch how much you'll want to use it. It doesn't take that much, and if you put a drop into your slides, it'll help keep the metal of your horn in good condition, especially during a short storage period.
I love Blue Juice and it?s absolutely amazing. Only had minor problems on my euphonium using it compared to a lot of other oils, because my euphonium?s 20-30 years old and has some valve problems. I think it?s about the same as Al Cass, though it definitely looks cooler and lasts longer.
I absolutely adore blue juice. It is worth every penny. Healthy for your horn! Doesn't smell weird. Leaves your valves feeling like bouncing clouds.
Blue Juice Valve oil is quite simply the best. I have been using it for years and it has never failed me. However, just be careful that before you apply more oil, you should wipe your valves off. This will get rid of the "gumminess" that people have complained about where the oil starts to build up and actually slow your valves down. As long as you do that, Blue Juice will be the best
This is the best valve oil I have ever owned. It has the right consistency, makes valves smooth, and doesn't dry up like other oils I have tried. It is a bit more expensive, but it comes in a bigger bottle and it is worth it. I use it on my trumpet and the valves are the smoothest they have ever been.
