The setting is a street in the City of New Orleans. Buddy Baker and his band are playing a new, swinging kind of music-JAZZ! To tell the story of how this music began, and what it is all about, we meet various people from the past-a mother humming a lullaby, an old harmonica player improvising by ear, kids tapping sticks on an old pork barrel and more. There is singing, dialogue, and beating out rhythms.
