She loves it. Great tone. She has had it over a year and no problems at all with it
It is absoloutely perfect. There is basically no faults! The only fault I would give is the screws on the Middle Octave B and the Middle Octave C# come undone a little, easy thought just tighten them. Not real hard though. The Vandoren M13 mouth piece with this gives it a Double-Punch effect. Vandoren V12 Reeds are pretty good with it. Use the Rovner Dark Ligature.
I got this clarinet in my second year of band in middle school, and it's still here 5 years later. With it I play a Vandoren M13 with V12 3.5 reeds, and a German string ligature. The clarinet got me through pain and joy, beginning band and high school symphonic band, as well as auditions for All-County band to winning first chair in All-State band, in addition to the local youth symphony. This goes to show that one doesn't need a vintage R13 festival or whatever to play well, that this sturdy clarinet is just fine. Regarding the clarinet itself: while the octave B key screw has never come out for me (like the above person), the screw that holds the A/Ab stack does have a tendency to come out on its own. A solid screwdriver fixed this. Another issue is in the low B (123|-4-), which is sharp and overall stuffy - this is easily fixed with the forked "alternate" fingering. A cosmetic thing that bugs me is how easily the Buffet logo rubs off, but that is just me. Besides these two minor problems, I can't think of any way that this instrument has hindered my growth, from playing Twinkle Twinkle to the Erwin Fantasia. And I can't emphasize how fantastic the intonation is - even the throat tones Bb and A are pretty good when used in combination with right hand 6 and the low F/C key down. It's an over all a quality instrument definitely worth the money.
