I am going into college and I was searching around for a really good instrument and I found that the Buffet R13 was the best. The pitch is perfect. This instrument always stays in tune and I never have trouble with the responses. The one suggestion I would say is find another mouth piece when you receive your instrument. The mouth piece is terrible it plays so flat. But the instrument is excellent!

The Buffet R13 is one of the best modest professional clarinets out there in the market. It provides a great, rich tone from it's grenadilla wooden body, and the sound is very nice. I've played this clarinet since a few years ago, and I'm really enjoying it. Priced pretty modestly too, this is the clarinet you're looking for once you get into the stage of more serious playing.

My mother purchased me an R 13 back in 8th grade, right before i was entering high school and am still using it 10 years later. This clarinet is absolutely wonderful. Deep rich sound, and easy to play throat tones, this clarinet can do it all. The only suggestion is to buy a different mouthpiece and possibly a new barrel. I plan to use this for the rest of my life.

I got this clarinet a few years ago and its still kickin'! When I first got it, I had a few problems--the barrel couldn't be pushed in all the way, some of the keys weren't aligned correctly, but nothing that couldn't be taken care of with a little TLC. I love the sound on this horn. The case seems a little small, so i bought a PRO TEC to go with it and it fits perfectly fine. I also got a new mouthpiece (portnoy BP02) because the one that comes with it is just a stock mouthpiece. But when you get the clarinet, if it doesn't work perfectly, don't be disappointed! Simple tweaks here and there will make your instrument truly one of a kind. In my opinion, stop looking at any other clarinet and GET THIS ONE!

I received a Buffet R13 Bb going into my freshman year old highschool. My student clarinet was getting pretty old, so mom surprised me by taking the plunge and buying it for me. She went into a store and said "What's the best profesional clarinet I can get", and they ofcourse handed the R13 to her. I couldn't be any happier. The R13 produces the BEST quality of sound, works with my reed of choice (gonzalez) better than ANY clarinet on the market now, and just is all around fantastic. I can't tell you enough that if you're taking the big step for a professional clarinet, there's no competition- the R13 is THE CLARINET for everyone. You have to try it to believe it, and trust me, you won't go back!
