Description
One of the finest student clarinet mouthpieces.

Clark W Fobes Debut Student Clarinet Mouthpiece
The Clark Fobes Debut is one of the finest student model clarinet mouthpieces on the market. The Fobes Debut mouthpieces have a fairly close facing that insures good resistance and focus to the sound. The result of this is better muscular development of the embouchure. Constructed with hand-finished acrylic and made with Fobes' professional "CF+" facing, it reflects the attention to the love of the craft of mouthpiece making that is at the heart of Fobes corporate culture. Each Fobes mouthpiece is play tested to ensure consistency and quality.

To say the least, this mouthpiece is easily the best student/intermediate on the market. The price only sweetens the deal! This mouthpiece plays almost as good as my Pyne, and is so much more affordable for all my students! It has a deep, rich tone, and works great with Vandoren reeds (other student mouthpieces usually only work well with a cheap reed). Without a doubt, it will outplay almost any Vandoren mouthpiece, and has the performance of professional models costing HUNDREDS of dollars more! If you want a good sounding clarinet, buy this mouthpiece! You simply cannot go wrong. The Fobes Debut mouthpiece and a Rovner Dark ligature are an unstoppable combination.

You should all try Clark's mouthpieces. They play with a warm, beautiful sound and make playing your horn fun. He is doing great work on his mouthpieces for clarinet & saxophone. I highly encourage everyone to try them.

Clark's Debut is a fantastic mouthpiece. These are hand finished mouthpieces made of acrylic rather than hard rubber. In this way, he is able to offer these for a great price. Don't be fooled by the price. It plays better than many mouthpieces at 2 or 3 times the price. I have played pro mouthpieces and vintage mouthpieces that don't play as well as the Debut.

I have been playing with Vandoren reeds 2 - 2.5 with the default mouthpiece which came with My LeBlanc Vito 7216 "Pete Fountain" (not the granadilla one, just a "special edition" of Vito with Pete Fountain signature on it) clarinet and I had difficulties maintaining centered nice tone, especially when jumping between registers... So I bought this mouthpiece and found out that with it and a half-step stronger reed everything is now easier for me, even vibrato is nicer... Also the tone is slightly better, but I think that it will take some time before my embouchure adapts to this combination... All in all, I am happy to finally find something that suits me well and makes my practicing fun again :)

"Underrated!"

I recently bought a new Selmer clarinet. I read the mouthpiece wasn't very good, so the Fobes Debut was a recommendation by WW&BW sales staff. I tried it with Vandoren V-12 2.5 reeds, Rovner ligature and can develop good tone. I also have a Hite Premiere. But one has to blow harder just to get coherent tone. The Fobes Debut mouthpiece is underrated. Try it.
