Product Description
Harry Hartmann
The best of both worlds, the Carbon Toptone plays with the response of a softer reed but maintains the stability of a harder one. Truly two reeds in one!

Great and Very Responsive Reed
Customer Rating

by Kevin 9/3/2008 3:37:23 AM
Musical Experience: 6 years of alto, 2 years prior in piano; senior in highschool
Style of music: Concert Band, Pep/Marching Band, a little reggae,
Hometown Hawaii
I found this reed to be very responsive and easy to play; I got a Med. one because I had previously been using a 3 1/2 Vandoren. This was the only thing I didn't like about it. I wasn't sure about the thickness to buy. The Medium was WAY too soft for me, I could easily overload it and change dynamics without much effort, but since it was too soft, I could not rely on it for playing loud in Marching/Pep band. The only other problem is the tone is not always great, and it plays a little flat, but that can be fixed buy pushing the mouthpiece in a little more than you’re used too.
