I have recorded with Miles Davis and JJ Johnson all on this horn and this trombone has been the best out of the trombones I?ve used. It has the best sound and is the most comfortable. Definitely a great buy.
It's a great horn, very dark tone (10'' rose brass bell, and rose brass slide, exactly what you'd expect). Not what I would suggest for a jazz setting, as it hard to this horn to scream, despite all the Red Brass it doesn,t seem to redline very quickly. The horn without valves sound nice in the low register, but with valves, there no comfortable spot for you lips. I suggest using 6th and 7th for F & E as opposed the the triggers, everything inbetween Eb and C I would play with either the F or F# attachment, only use both valves together when absolutely necessary (B natual). Also since you shouldn't use the valves for E or F, I suggest tuning both of them very flat, as it bring B,C,& C# more in tune on the F# side, and B more intune on the F (C in first is unusable, C in is 2 3/8 on Flat F#). When tuned flat enough they together should produce a C#, thus making B both closer to the bell and more open.
