After owning what I consider to be an under-rated Flugel, the Jupiter 846, I test-drove several different horns in the $2K price range. Hands-down this was the best Flugel in the bunch for me. Great intonation (even on the evil Flugel note of D-on-the-staff), and a great fit and finish. Even with the resistance of the .413 bore, it performs very well above the staff. Up high, the 1FR does not break up and holds its tone. No other Flugel did that for me. In the end, I didn't need a new Flugel, but this one convinced me otherwise. WWBW made me a great deal and I have been a happy owner for about 6 years.

This is a beautiful horn, and it plays great. It has a beautiful rich tone. It is easy to play. The third valve trigger is easy to use. The valves are responsive. I am very happy with mine.

"What a Flugelhorn Should Be"

Just received my 1FR from WWBW. It was a joy to play from the very start. It has the mellow flugel timbre you expect, with great intonation throughout it's range. The third valve trigger works great, and is a substantial mechanism that was build to last. Valve action was also good right from the start. I don't need to search any more. This is what a flugelhorn should be.
