Ok, first of all this horn IS the King Legend. Great horn. Same tooling and specs. I perform daily on the King Legend with an Edwards 1C heavy mouthpiece with great results. For some reason, UMI decided to quite marketing the Legend and are now producing this horn under the CG Conn badge. King used to offer the Legend in regular (.459) and large (.464) bore but the new Connstellation is just offered in Lg bore. This horn plays dark. Period. I have found that if it gets bright it is due to the player NOT the horn. The short throw pistons and heavy top caps make note changes quick and clean. This is a feature you might find on a more expensive custom made horn. Thanks to the reversed lead and heavy weight construction this horn projects like nobody's business. For a horn that plays typically dark, it is very focused and clear overtones. Makes it a quick responding heavyweight horn... Excellent. There is No other horn in this price range that even compares to the quality and craftsmanship of the new Connstellation. If you can get your hands on a Connstellation or a Legend you, my friend, have found a keeper.
This is the perfect trumpet for a student to move up to. I have braces and it makes my tone sound 100% better than it does on my other trumpet. It makes playing the upper register so much easier, and intonation is not a problem. I am in my school's marching band and it easily responds to the amount of air that you want to travel through it, and it is just as heavy as any other trumpet. I highly recommend it.
Positives: This trumpet sound beautiful, easy to play with excellent range. UMI is building much better instruments. The engraving is very tasteful. Negative: The case looks cheap and it is not practical . The trumpet fits too tight and there is no storage space, not even for small mute. I do not count the case in my rating. This is a heavy trumpet. Conclusion: BEST BUY
ok, this trumpet is awesome, it comes with the reversed lead pipe, and valve weights, i just bought this trumpet and i can tell you myself that there is a huge difference in tone and note tongue accuracy,
Exceeded my expectations. The quality is first rate. Absolutely stunning to look at. My last trumpet was a Schilke (many years ago) and I didn't expect to be so impressed with this model. I thought the valve weights were hype but I do sense greater projection with them. Sort of like adding weight to a speaker. The weight limits the non-essential parts from vibrating and stealing energy. Made here in the USA. Do your research and you'll be surprised where some of these trumpets are made. Better sound, less repairs, greater longevity and resale value are all here. Don't slight yourself on something that you may have for decades.
