Conn 88H Symphony Series F Attachment Trombone
Developed with the aid of Dr. Emory Remington (The Chief), C.G. Conn introduced the 88H in 1954. The 88H rapidly gained popularity as a symphonic tenor trombone in ensembles that favored a heroic, robust low brass section. The unique tone color of the 88H, combined with the refusal of the instrument to break up even at the most extreme dynamic levels made this trombone one of the most widespread professional symphonic trombones in the world. The 88H has remained in continuous production since its introduction, a record that is unequaled by any other American symphonic trombone.

This trombone has a lovely high range and low range. It's' a great for serious players young or old and has a very nice slide, bore, size, etc. It's really good. The color of the brass also gives is a nice tone.

"excellence"

I have been playing a Conn 8H straight tenor trombone with the dual bore slide (.525/.547). It came with three leadpipes so I can interchange large shank and small shank mouthpieces. Using this feature I can play the low register with great power using my favorite Griego 4.5 Deco mouthpiece, or the high register with my Griego 11. This horn always sounds good and there are few, if any, that look as good (rose brass bell and slide). The slide action is smooth and silent. I have no use for an F-attachment, but have to admit with the closed wrap it is impressive looking.

This horn yields a rich, powerful, and brassy tone in the lower register. However, when equipped with a smaller mouthpiece and played in the higher register, it can be quite sweet and delicate. Overall, a versatile instrument. Don't pass this up!
