Industry standard tuba mouthpiece.

Conn Helleberg Series Tuba Mouthpiece in Silver
The Conn Helleberg is the most famous tuba mouthpiece in the world, and the Conn Helleberg 7B is a slightly shallower-cupped version of the original. Named after the preeminent tuba player of his time, August Helleberg from the Sousa band, the Helleberg is renowned for its deep, rich and organ-like tone. Want pedal tones? Helleberg. Want High Fs? Helleberg. In a word, Helleberg. It is everything you want a tuba mouthpiece to be.

"Great Mouthpiece"

I highly recommend this mouthpiece for middle school and high school students. With the rim being thin, there isn't room to have a sloppy embouchure. The pitch was better and the students could focus the pitch better with this mouthpiece.

The very first thing i noticed about this mouthpeice, it was very comfortable on the embrochure, it's thin rim makes it very comfortable, expanding your overall range in the low and high register. The tone quality it great, it provides exelent tone quality while also having great controll. I would recommend this mouthpeice to high school syphonic setting players, but also i am shure it would make a sousaphones tone much better also.

This mouthpiece greatly improved my tone quality and lip durability. Plan on purchasing Helleburg when in need of a new mouthpiece.

This mouthpiece is simply better than the big fat ones that are hard to play on! I got this in 8th grade after switching to tuba and I loved it because the sound quality is so much better than the one that I was borrowing! Must buy! -FYI- it is a great mouthpiece and it is reasonably priced!!!

I've been using this mouthpiece for 30 years. I've tried several others, but this one has the best characteristics for me: not too big, not too small, V-shaped cup for deep sound, and a nice rim. It's perfect for my Miraphone CC 186-5V tuba.

"Great Starting Mouthpiece"

by Samuel - 2/14/2013 10:03:14 AM  Share

This is a wonderful mouthpiece to have beginning students try out. I teach someone who was struggling with tone and when I gave him this one, it opened up. It has a more open cup than most mouthpieces which makes it easier for students to open their teeth to get a better sound. This should only be a start and students should not remain on this mouthpiece through entire career. Find something that will allow more control for accuracy in higher register later on.

"Good Beginnings!"

In the very beginning of my playing career on tuba I played on a few tubas mouthpieces. I was in search of a new one so my director suggested the Conn Helleberg tuba mouthpiece. When I bought this one and got it in the mail I immediately brought it to school to play for my director. He was amazed with the quality of sound I could now produce on my tuba. Whenever I played for a new person they commented on my beautiful tone. It was just so easy to play on and I loved it! I give all the credit to this mouthpiece for making my music career start off easy and for helping me sound good at such a young age!

I absolutely love the Conn helleberg 120S tuba mouthpiece....its really the only metal mouthpiece that i have ever played and i thoroughly enjoy playing on it...gives me an excellent range with out the fatigue of playing on other mouthpieces i have tried

"Great quality at Better price"

by Thomas L - 11/4/2010 12:56:41 PM  Share

Student March, symphonic, Just high school music Decatur, AL

I have been playing in symphonic band for 2 years, concert band for 4, and marching band for 3, played on about five different mouthpieces and for what little time i have had this mouthpiece, it has fully surpassed my expectations. My middle school band director told us to buy a Bach 24AW for beginner band, and with that mouthpiece costing almost 90 dollars and being able to get this one for 60 dollars, i am very impressed, although i was skeptical of the price, but since my band director's friend, who is a professional tuba player recommended it i decided to go with it and i am amazed. Responsiveness is so much better and just the look of the mouthpiece is better than my Bach. Completely recommend it
