Good tone for the buck

In my search for an affordable acoustic/electric amp, I found that it's stellar tone and price made it rise to the top of my list. I played it with my Yamaha dreadnaught (active pickup) and a Chet Atkins solid body (passive) acoustic/ electric and the sound was big, clear, and easily adjustable for both. If you’re looking for effects, it's adequate. There's no XLR input that I could find, but it is a good sounding amp for acoustic guitars with enough volume for small gigs.

This little amp sounds warm and good with my guitar and Bill Lawrence pickup. Its big drawback is that the knobs are very small - kind of hidden on the back of the top - and the lack of stops, or clicks, on the effects knob makes it a real chore to find knob positions without looking. Or it's tough to know what you have dialed in without getting your head down close to read the tiny print. For the money, it does a good job, maybe with long use you can remember the knob positions without looking.

This amp is a real steal. I also have a Crate CA 60D which sells for more and I like this one better. It sounds better and is much easier to lug around. It has great tone and plenty of volume for most applications. The effects are very good too. Another thing I like about Crate is their attention to detail and styling. The overall workmanship is excellent. It has a dark green cabinet with a metal screen, very classy looking.
