The Pizzicato and Hybrid strings differ from the Helicore Orchestra strings primarily in the construction of the core. Now being manufactured by D'Addario, this core material creates the familiar clarity and brightness desired for jazz pizzicato. At the same time, the smooth surface finish feels comfortable and contributes to easy bowing, same as the Orchestra sets.
The Hybrid strings are designed to address the needs of players who keep one bass set up for both bowing and pizz. They are similar to the Pizzicato strings but have a damping ingredient inside the windings to darken the sound slightly, reduce sustain, and take the "scratch" out of the bowed sound.
