Product Description
Denis Wick
The Denis Wick DW4884 Series Flugelhorn Mouthpieces in Gold offer outstanding performance to the player. The DW4884 Series 2BFL, 3BFL and 4BFL have less deep cups in comparison to the F or FL models. The DW4884 BFL mouthpieces were intended for Northern European fanfare bands where flugelhorns are used to replace cornets. The DW4884 F mouthpieces are designed for flugelhorns with European tapers. The DW4884 FL mouthpieces are designed for flugelhorns with USA or Japanese tapers.
Product Overview and Specifications
Very deep cup. These mouthpieces give particularly rich and beautiful tone to the flugel horn.

I have an Amati AFH 601S flugelhorn which sounded decent with the stock Amati 1&1/2 mouthpiece. I purchased a 2BFL and I was absolutely blown away with the beautiful dark tone after playing just 1 note. I'm a guy that's hard to please and even harder to impress. I honestly could not believe my ears. The tone was sweet and rich. This mouthpiece made my horn sound like a completely different instrument. I kept switching mouthpieces to see if I was just imagining it. I tried 5 other mouthpieces and when I switched back to the Denis Wick I was amazed at the difference. Best investment I've ever made for sound quality. Range from low pedal G all the way up to double high G have great tone, slotting, and intonation. Literally like night and day compared to any other mouthpiece I've ever tried. I also like the comfort the gold plating adds.

I have been a Wick fan ever since I purchased the 4FL about 1 year ago....a truly distinct sound. I was having a bit of trouble with the upper register with the 4FL so I bought the 2BFL as it is stated to be a bit less deep than the 4FL. To my great surprise the 2BFL is to the eye and feel the same depth as the 4FL, the cup is a bit narrower but still gives that great Wick tone. This piece is a pleasure to play and has extended my range to where I want it, nice tone up to about high C, without any loss of that deep, dark flugelhorn sound. I am very pleased with this purchase and I have used this mouthpiece exclusively since I purchased it. In addition the price on this site is the absolute best price out there. A great product at an amazing price.

I'm just a casual player...not professional or expert by any means. I bought a Jupiter flugel just to add to my band gigs. The stock Jupiter mpc , I thought, was fine. But I kept hearing a better mpc will really enhance the horn. I decided to try a Wick gold 4FL. WOW !! The first note I blew with it sounded so much warmer..really brought out that dark flugel sound I love. I kept switching mpc's back/forth to see if I was just imagining it...I couldn't belive the difference in sound. The 4FL gold is a great mpc for flugelhorn. I'm thrilled with it.
