OVERVIEW

Quiet Practice!

British-made, Denis Wick mutes are acclaimed worldwide for their sound quality, intonation in all dynamic ranges, plus superb workmanship.

Denis Wick practice mutes are perhaps the best teaching aid ever invented. Not only do they fulfill the need for the in-tune painless practice, so essential in the development of every young player and an indispensable "hotel mute" for the professional, but they also make possible an enormous improvement in tone quality using the entire vital capacity as a vibrating air column by opening the throat spaces through playing loudly in the low register.

I use this mute every day! Great practice tools for every player new or old!! Definitely good for late hours and low-tone warm-ups.

a fantastic mute

Comments about Denis Wick DW5527 Series Trombone Practice Mute:

I bought this mute because I wanted to increase my air flow/ support and it worked like a charm. Because the mute gives so much resistance it gave me a more open tone with much more support to the sound. Playing piano is challenging, however after playing softly with the mute in, once the mute is removed softer volumes now have a more open and full tone. This is an excellent mute, definitely worth the buy.

Good to practice ocasionally

Comments about Denis Wick DW5527 Series Trombone Practice Mute:

I bought this mute because I can't practice as often as I would (I live in flat - family, neighbors). It allows for playing at different hours, but in my opinion it's good only for technical practice (etudes, scales). The sound with mute is very poor, and it's make resistance for the air. It's good for play fff, but p or pp dynamic is very hard to play or impossible, because of resistance. It's not what I expected. Big advantage of this mute is the price.
