This is a great mute! It adjusts so you can find the spot that you like the most. It is not the traditional cup mute sound, but it is still a great purchase. For section playing, everyone would need to play on them, or I would just suggest that you purchase a Humes and Berg cup mute for situations requiring the classic cup mute sound. All in all, another one that should be in your mute collection.
this mute was first straight and cup mute and will be my last!!!! i bought in november and have been satisfied with it ever since i got it. the adjustable cup is a plus so you can adjust it to the sound that you or your band instructor wants. because of the adjustable cup, its like storing one mute instead of two!!!it saves tons of space in your case, which is a plus if your short on space like me!!!!overral, the one mute that i will use untill i die.
This is a very nice mute. I enjoy the adjustable cup because it gives you a different variety of sounds. The only I don't like about it, is that it gives you a metallic sound rather than a cup sound.
The Dennis Wick cupt mute provides a very smooth dark sound. The intonation is excellent. The only problem is, if everyone in your section doesn't have one, it is somewhat obvious. This mute is great for solo work, but for a section mute, it's somewhat hard to blend with a lot of stonelined mutes.
There aren't a whole lot of things in trumpet equipment where there is one clearly superior model. This is one. For "legit" applications, this is absolutely the superior choice. THIS is the sound, the feel, the intonation you want, with the flexibility of the adjustable cup.
If you need a cup mute, you get this. Period.
I received the Denis Wick cup mute as a Christmas present, and I recently used it for district band. The sound quality this mute produces is incredible. While having the expected closed off cup mute sound, it also has a very rich tone to it. This mute is great for concert, jazz, and ensemble use. It's everything you could want for a mute!
This cup mute is by far the best I have tried. It is definitely worth the extra money for an adjustable one. Dennis Wick is a fine brand that makes wonderful trumpet mutes. I have used this for concert bands, plays, solos, etcetera. It has a fantastic tone and consistent intonation. I highly recommend it!
This is an interesting mute, in that the cup is adjustable - you can slide it closer to the bell to create a different sound. I have found that it is possible to achieve a sound very similar to a stone lined cup mute by bringing the cup very close to the bell. Used without the cup, this mute is a dark toned straight mute. A single mute with a variety of different sounds.
I used this mute all through high school and really enjoyed the fact that it was two mutes in one. This saved a lot of valuable case space and time in the music. The look of it, though it doesn't exactly look like everyone elses in the section, stood out in a positive way, beating the look of the cheap ones the school provided. My only problem with it was that the metal cup, given enough pressure, can be bent out of shape, which has been proven to be competely fixable.
simple, this cup mute has the best all around sound that one could ever ask for, high quality well made superior sound,
