Denis Wick Flugelhorn Mouthpiece in SilverMedium-deep cup. All these models have less deep cups than 2F, 2FL, 4F, 4FL. They use original DW cornet cups 2-5 and are intended for use in Northern European 'Fanfare' bands where flugel horns replace cornets. May also be used by players who prefer more traditional flugel mouthpieces. NB: these are NOT the same cups as the 'B' range of cornet mouthpieces.

Im experiencing greatness in all aspects of my performance on my flugelhorn:Ease of tone production,Flexibility, range, dynamics & more.Well pleased customer, THANK YOU MUCH ! Bro. Ed
The 3BFL offers a uniquely rich, warm and true European flugelhorn sound. The design is a perfect balance -- a deep resonant tone while still maintaining responsiveness and an accessible upper register.
For me, this is a much more practical choice than the 2FL (which I tried side-by-side for 2 weeks). The 3BFL cup is just a few thousandths smaller and shallower. Yet it offers nearly the same sonorous qualities as the 2FL, but with greater ease of playability and a much improved higher range.
Some horn players today think that bigger is always better and that playing giant, toilet-bowl size cups makes them superior musicians. Other trendy players use such small, shallow cups that their sound is stuffy and stunted.
As a professional jazz musician, I've played numerous trumpet and flugelhorn mouthpieces over the years. Obviously, mouthpiece selection is a very personal thing and must consider physiology, embouchure development, playing range and desired sound.
The 3BFL is a beautiful compromise... but does require decent chops to move into the higher range. I'm very pleased with this Denis Wick mouthpiece and can highly recommend it to other intermediate to advanced players who are looking for a fuller, richer flugelhorn sound.
