A super nice tone in the upper register and the lower register is very good as well. Very easy and warm on the lips even after a night of playing.
My experience with mouthpieces has not been wonderful. The one that came with my instrument was fine for the time I used it, but I started to notice it didn't have the tone I liked. Having this dilemma, I proceeded to stop by my local music store which had been very good to me in the past. I tried several mouthpieces and settled on a new one which I liked the fit and the sound. But, once again, taking it home and trying it for a while, I noticed it had really the same problem as my old mouthpiece, if not even worse. So I began to look for a better quality mouthpiece that would really make a difference. After receiving this one in the mail and trying it out across different scales and songs, I really can tell a great difference from any mouthpiece I have used. It's an extremely well-fitting mouthpiece (for me personally), the sound and tone is incredible, and I think it has made a vast improvement on my playing over my other mouthpieces. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new mouthpiece with this one's specifications.
Absolutely comfortable rim for long blowing gigs. Doesn't back up like a 7C. For me a better high and low register. A little less edge, more character. Can take a huge amount of air. It's big but if you support high notes come out huge. My fave.
I decided to purchase this mouthpiece after my friend let me try it out. The 4BS is probably the best mouthpiece i've ever played on. It gives me a much clearer sound. My attacks are more defined, and i find myself not cracking notes like i was doing on my Schilke. It's also slightly wider, which makes my endurance much better. I would recommend this mouthpiece to any trombonist looking for a good quality mouthpiece.
