This guitar is great. This guitar is good for beginners as well as intermediate players. This guitar has great looks, beautiful tone, and unmistakable beauty. From a distance is seems to be a great guitar, but up close it?s a guitar goddess. This guitar is so fun to play and is great for almost any style of music. This guitar is really fun to play fast on and you know you are getting a quality guitar when you buy this. And the price is great as well. Instead of going out and getting a Gibson, you should try this out first because I think it?s just as nice as a Gibson (in some ways). This guitar also sounds great with the Dunlop original crybaby wah wah pedal.
I love this guitar. I have the cherry burst finish and it is beautiful. I have had zero problems with it for the year and a half that I've owned it. It remains in tune even with heavy bending solos; it is not neck heavy as with most guitars in this price range which is great for performance settings. As typical with all Les Pauls it has a lot of sustain. The bridge pickup is bright and crisp and the neck pickup gives you really thick bass rich tone. It is a heavy guitar so I would suggest some strap locks and a durable strap unless you like to drop your guitar in the middle of a song.
I bought this guitar in Dec 2005 for Christmas. After a month of playing with this, and I found out a lot of information about comparing between Gibson Les Paul and Epiphone Les Paul. While looking for information, I found this website and saw my guitar here, so I had to post a review. First I have to say, what a buy, when I saw this with a perfect black finishing I was already sold, but as I tried it out in the back room and played it on a nice 30 Watt Spider II amp (same one I have at home), I was blown away, and the price was simply amazing. I've played for a month now and I maybe wrong, but from everything I've seen in the past month of playing with this guitar almost constantly, everyday, this guitar is sturdy, light weight (compared to other Les Pauls such as the Gibson), smooth look and feel(thinner neck, and lighter less dense wood), and sounds absolutely perfect, even for the stock pickups. I could complement this guitar all day, but I'll just cut to the con, the one and only problem I see with this guitar is a slight buzzing of the low E string on the first few frets, but this doesn't effect the sound from the amp, so it's fine, hardly noticeable when playing. Thats it, the only problem, if you wanna play folk, blues, hard rock, or metal, this guitar can do it all. Just to clear some of those wondering about the difference between Epiphone and Gibson Les Pauls, difference is manufacturing. They are very different, Gibsons a company in the US that is made for quality and not quantity, Epiphone is a company in Korea that made these in mass productions, for quantity, but this doesn't mean it's bad. Both are hand made by the way. For the much cheaper price, different wood, and different manufacturing, this guitar is worth the buy, I recommend it for anyone who wants the Gibson Les but cant afford it, 10 out of 10.
I'm just after buying one , and I have to tell you : its pretty awsome. The neck is fashioned like Gibson's 1960's Les Pauls. fast low action , powerfull clean tone , fat overdriven power , excellent in the top-end. Only complaint realy is that it doesn't have too much bite (twang), but you don't but a Les Paul for twang. Can't ask for more than that. PLus the black finish is awsome ( especially with the tan pick-guard and bindings).
So I got this guitar for Christmas last year, but it was a burst color ironic for metal though. This guitar is great! It will turn an Intermediate into a GOD. It plays metal, blues, rock, jazz, and my friend conned me into letting his sister use it for country, but it plays them all flawlessly.
