"Wow! Outstanding for it's price!"

Wow! I ordered this trombone for my younger brother who was just learning Trombone, and I just tested it today. As a trumpet player, I knew that the slide positions match the valve positions, so I just toyed with it and played a few scales, and it sounds very warm, and it's slide moves easily right out of the case! It's beautiful brass lacquer finish shines like gold, and within the case comes white gloves so you don't leave fingerprints on the instrument! The case is a hard case, which is definitely recommended for brass instruments to prevent any dents and damage from dropping the instrument while it's in it's case. It also fits very well into the case to prevent movement while you walk or carry the case. (It has a strap inside to protect it even further, too!) The mouthpiece it comes with seems to have no brand or markings/measurements on it whatsoever, but it feels comfortable from a trumpet player's perspective, so it's probably best assumed that it is a beginners mouthpiece. Overall, an outstanding instrument for it's price! If my younger brother grows bored of the instrument, I'll definitely play it myself in my spare time!

I had heard postive things about the etude series of instruments. So when I had the opportunity, I purchased 3 for my band program. I have been somewhat disappointed in the results. Intonation it the biggest issue ihave seen so far. My trombone players have had to make serious adjustments in positions and emboushure to keep these horns in tune and are constantly flat with the tuning slide all the way in. Light material has meant easy to dent and the cases shatter upon slight impacts. if you need economic beginning instrument, then this one would be ok but would not recommend beyond that.

Sure, it's made in China. But the sound is very pleasing. I got the older version of this one, but I don't think it's changed that much. My family and I purchased about 5 of these and all of the slides corroded over time. Most of the cases cracked during shipping, but although they aren't the greatest trombone out there, the price is wonderful. This will do good for a beginner, but I would recommend creaming the slide often and with lots of grease to keep slide slick. And most importantly, DO NOT BUMP IT INTO THINGS. It dents very easy. A better choice (that is, if you have the money) would be Allora or Yamaha or Bach. Those are fine quality instruments. Over all, I think I'd give this 'bone a three out of five stars. Like I said, it's okay, but definitely be aware of the bad parts about it.

"Wouldn't recommend, maybe for an absolute beginner"

My primary instruments are tuba / euphonium and always wanted to play trombone, so for the money I thought why not purchase the etude trombone that was on sale at the time. If you have been playing brass for a long time, the first few notes you play you can instantly tell the intonation and sound quality is bad. On a positive note, it did come with a nice sturdy plastic case you wouldn't normally see with imported instruments like these. I no how convincing these instruments are for there appearance and unbelievable price. I would strongly recommend to either rent from a reputable brand, or even buy new or used from that matter. I would recommend this trombone for an absolute beginner just starting out in music.
