I'm a comeback player after being away for 25 plus years. I played from grades 4 thru 12. I got my 1st horn (a Conn) in the sixth grsde. That was when Conn and Olds ruled the trumpet world. Which brings me to my current point; don't believe the hype when they say you can't get a quality horn on-line for under a hundred dollars. This horn (the etude) can handle whatever you throw at it. I use a Bach 1c mouthpiece instead of the original 7c that comes with it. The valves and everything work fine. It's getting close to a year that I had this horn and I don't anticipate any major problems. I bought this trumpet from wwbw online for $85.00 plus I paid additional $15.00 for insurance; (2yrs). After being back for two and a half years as a cb player, I didn't like the progress I was making with my embrochure so I ended up physically destroying my previous horn. (Afterwards I cried like a baby). That's why I took a chance on an inexpensive horn. I'm glad I took that chance. I know it's not the best horn in the world (according to the trumpet snobs out there)but it is nowhere near the horror stories that I've read about concerning the inexpensive Chinese imports. This horn is more than enough trumpet for the average player. I think some of these complaints concerning valve, tone and tuning issues are from people who are new to trumpets or maybe it's part of a wider conspiracy by the big American brand trumpet makers to force us buy their $3000.00 plus trumpets. If you love to play, you'll find a way. Don't let the trumpet snobs discourage you. You can still touch a heartstring and spark an emotion without spending $3000.00; Of course, I'd love to get my hands and lips on a Bach/Strad. But for now the Etude is holding its own. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars only because it's not a Bach.
this is a really good trumpet i used it and it has a great smooth sound its the best and a great price
We bought 4 trumpets a year ago. 1 stopped working (the 2nd valve seized up) and two others have such slow valve action that their practically useless.
Great trumpet for the price. I played in high school 20 years ago and when my son started this year I want to play with him. This isn't near the quality of my son's Yamaha, but at one tenth the price well worth the money. Great horn to play with if you are just starting, just play for fun, or maybe pep band if you don't want to damage your more expensive one. Just order valve oil with it, it will need to play oiled out of the box.
Today I ordered my daughter's 1st trumpet with the help of Lakesha. She was great! I was not ready to order one on line with out some direction and she was the one to go too!! Especially when your child is young and you don't know if they are going to stick with band. She is wonderful.....ask for her when you call in no matter what instrument you are looking for!
I'm new to the trumpet, but I've played many other instruments over the years (currently, tenor sax for the last year and a half). This seems like a good horn. It feels solid, and the valves and tuning slides all move freely. Being a beginner, I can't really speak for the sound quality yet, but I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I'm 100% satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this horn to anyone.
Don't forget to purchase a cleaning kit and a practice mute (your neighbors will thank you for the mute, and without it, you probably won't even be able to stand your own sound right away. lol).
Given my experience with wwbw's off brand instruments I was pretty comfortable buying a really inexpensive Trumpet - but only from wwbw! The have a reputation for quality and I don't believe they would sell instruments that don't work. This trumpet blew me away! The tone is vibrant and rich, much like a silver instrument. The notes slot well and the valves are very smooth. I played it against other trumpets and had to go up in price several hundred dollars before I played anything that I liked as well.
this trumpet is one of the best trumpets I have used so I wanted to say thankyou for the sale you have because I would not of been able to buy it if it was around 300-400 dollars. thankyou
This trumpet is not in tune however you try to adjust, especially the note E. The sound is quite weak, not bright enough. But still, the handicraft is not bad, and it is quite beautiful.
Although it is cheap, I don't suggest to let a kid to play this. Because this trumpet is not in tune therefore not good for a kid to develop his/her pitch.
I got mine in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to use it. I just sent it to 5 Wexford St. and it was here. I only waited 4 days.
